The annual weed cut was again well attended this year, which was fortunate as the continued high river level (as well as higher than average rainfall) have resulted in far more weed than is normal at this time of year.

The river has also recently received its final stocking for this season, so we should be all set for a fruitful August and September.

The County School beat has now been fully cleared and the water is settling down nicely, so hopefully we will be getting better results for the remainder of the season. The committee would be very interested to hear of members’ (and day ticket visitors’) experiences of the newly accessible stretch.

The clearing turned out to be quite a job of work, as the video shows, but our intrepid river manager, Mark Williams, and the contractors proved equal to the task.
