I fished Goffs and C/S today. Started at midday and saw plenty of trout. They were pretty much comatose, just moving left or right to avoid my nymph. There were Mayfly coming off in dribs and drabs. Around 4.30 the hatch really kicked in with Mayfly coming off in droves. Also there were egg laying females in the mix and finally the trout woke up. I had several offers and caught two. A nice little wild fish and a stocked trout. Bringing the stocky to the net it was hit by a pike right under my feet. Pike was about 6/7lbs but fortunately let go. The trout survived with a couple of puncture wounds. It went away just fine when I released it a long way from where that pike was lurking. I reckon that earlier in the day the trout just were not hungry, having feasted on Mayfly the previous evening.
I caught another from C/S between the berm and the bridge pool. No one else signed in at the C/S box.
Lovely day out.
